      • What is the client’s concern about his/her about job?
      • Has the client tried to address his/her situation or concern with the employer if related to the job site?
      • What does the client think will help?
      • What services are needed to address the concern?
      • Did others, such as community providers, fulfill their responsibilities?
    • Regain Employment. If client requests assistance to get a job after a successful employment outcome, have the individual re-apply for services through the employment program as a job search is an involved, time-consuming and challenging service.
    • Career Advancement. If client requests assistance in advancing in a job with the same employer he or she had at the time of successful employment outcome, assess the need for and services required to advance. The advancement should be expected to result in greater pay, more work hours, a promotion, and/or benefits.
      • What does the client need to advance in employment?
      • What assistance if any is available from the employer?
      • What prevents the client from arranging and obtaining that service on their own?
      • Determine if the services needed are appropriate for post-employment or if the services are complex and comprehensive and thus should be provided as a new employment program case.
  2. Determine appropriateness of post employment services or services under a new employment program case.
    • Determine if the client’s service needs are appropriate for post employment, or if the needed services are complex and comprehensive and thus should be provided as a new employment program case.
    • If appropriate for post employment and service initiation is within 12 months of the original successful employment outcome, add the service(s) in QE2 and provide the needed service(s).
    • If not appropriate for post-employment but appropriate as a new employment program case, open a new case, determine eligibility, complete career planning and develop the IPE.
    • If not appropriate for either post employment or as a new employment program case, explain to the individual why the service(s) are not appropriate and follow the process in the Review of Decisions chapter.
  3. Enter the team, community and/or support service to be provided in Post Employment in the IPE section of the QE2 record.
    • An IPE Amendment form is not required to provide a post employment service.
    • The latest end date for any planned post employment service and authorization should usually not exceed the date that is one year post the successful outcome date.
    • The duration of a post employment service and any authorization should generally not exceed 3 months from the planned start date of the post employment service.
  4. Completion of Post Employment Services.
    • Once the service has been provided and any invoices paid, unencumber any balances and return the case to Post Employment Monitoring.

Post-employment services are limited in scope and duration and are provided subsequent to the successful employment outcome if necessary for an individual to maintain, regain, or advance in employment.

Post employment services may only be initiated within 12 months of the date of the successful employment outcome.

Considering the limited scope and duration of post employment services, the duration of a post employment service and any authorization should generally not exceed 3 months from the planned start date of the post employment service.

Cases currently receiving EW Services on August 1, 2013 will be allowed to finished out the planned services even if those services extend beyond 12 months post the successful employment date including those EW services that are no longer available in Post Employment.

Services necessary to maintain, regain or advance in employment that are provided as a post employment service will be limited to those team, community and support services that are

  • readily available,
  • easy to arrange
  • routine, and
  • can be provided within 90 days.

Team, community and support services that are substantial, require significant staff time, are longer in duration, difficult to locate, or challenging to arrange or provide are to be provided through a new employment program case.

The provision of Employment-Job Seeking Skills, Employment-Job Placement, post secondary training, post secondary supports, supported employment, or small business expansion following successful employment outcome are to be provided as a new employment program case. Note: Employment-Job Retention service is available in Post Employment.

Providing a post employment service does not require completing an IPE amendment form, but does require entering the team, community and support service in the IPE section of the QE2 record.

Termination of a successful employment outcome case will automatically occur 12 months after the successful employment outcome or when a case is removed from Post Employment Services whichever is later.
