Principles to guide staff in appropriate dress for our business:
1. We are a business organization helping people prepare for and enter into employment. We want to be strong advocates and role models for our clients and within our business and community groups. We want to communicate we are serious about our work, we provide quality services, we are professional, and take pride in how we represent Nebraska VR.
2. Because we can't control who will see us or who might need to see us on a moment’s notice we need to make sure we are presenting a professional look.
3. It is not a right of employees to dress in any manner they choose. It is reasonable to assume all employees will dress appropriately during working hours.
4. The Office Director has the responsibility to address unacceptable/inappropriate dress concerns with staff directly.
Unacceptable clothing items for the workplace:
Jeans - Except for Fridays (no holes or frayed pant legs). Offices should post a notice for the public as to why VR staff are wearing jeans on Fridays.
Athletic shoes (unless approved with a medical note)
Collarless or sleeveless shirts (men)
Tank tops or halter tops (unless worn under a sweater or jacket)
Jogging or exercise attire
Shorts (pants should be past the knee)
Leggings (unless worn with mid-thigh length or longer shirt, sweater, skirt or dress)
Attire with excessive or inappropriate written messages or slogans
Flip flops (Any flip flop that can be worn in water cannot be worn to work)- open toe dress sandals are acceptable
Skirts need to be mid-thigh length or longer
