SUMMARY OF CHANGES:

This is a new chapter outlining process and policy to determine the need for a Community Work Assessment for individuals primarily with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Evaluation process leading up to a Community Work Assessment is clearly specified to insure that services look similar across offices. CWA should be necessary ONLY in rare situations such as an individual who has been exposed to limited opportunities in the community, non-Nebraska graduate with little available work experience documentation, no use of employability skills in a significant amount of time, concerning behaviors, or multiple diagnoses that raise question whether one is capable of competitive integrated employment at this time. Any necessary support such as a job coach, personal care attendant (funded by DHHS), or assistive technology should be in place to provide the most opportunity for success.
