Summary of Changes

Policy

Added Rule 72 information and examples for OD Exceptions. Addressed how to obtain financial aid information from schools who will no longer directly provide this information to VR and incorporated post-secondary supports to this chapter as they are not to exceed unmet need.

OD needs to approve part time college plans.

A least one informational interview is required

Clients will sign off on “What You Should Know About VR Financial Aid” when IPE is signed.

Process

Incorporated post-secondary supports into this chapter as they are subject to unmet need and will now be referenced as increase cost.

ADDED:

• Purpose, justification and more detain on how to determine an appropriate post-secondary goal.
• Academic and financial aid audits are required for those who have previously attended college or are changing majors.
• Direction on how to handle colleges who will not provide financial aid information directly to VR.
• Provided examples on how to calculate VR post-secondary assistance
• Defaulted loans. Individuals who have defaulted on a prior student loan must be in good standing to avail themselves to possible financial aid, as this can usually be accomplished in a few short months of regular payments.
• DACA need to be verified eligible to work through the SAVE program on an annual basis while the case is open.
