Summary of Changes

Moved the eligibility extension information from the Eligibility Chapter into a stand-alone chapter, similar to IPE Extension.

When an eligibility determination is not completed by the agreed upon extension date:

An automated email will be sent to the Specialist, Office Director, and Director of Nebraska VR. The VR Specialist must respond to the email within 3 working days with:

• an explanation of why the eligibility was not completed by the agreed upon date; and
• the specific steps and timelines for either completing the eligibility or closing the case

If 60 days have expired without an Eligibility Extension being completed -

An automated e-mail will be sent to the VR Specialist, Office Director, and Director of Nebraska VR. The VR Specialist must respond to the email within 3 working days with:

• an explanation of why an Eligibility Extension was not completed and entered into QE2 within 60 days of the date of application; and 
• the next steps for either obtaining client agreement, completing the extension and determining eligibility or closing the case.

QE2 Update

At the time an extension is completed, staff are now required to include the specific steps and a timeline for completing the eligibility. 

Team Communication

Teams should review to become familiar with the change in process .

Monitoring Requirements

Staff are required to monitor their eligibilities on their To Do list to ensure compliance with policy.

The Office Director must follow up on the specific steps and timelines outlined in the email to ensure the VR Specialist completes an extension and determines eligibility or closes the case.

Case reviews will be done to ensure compliance with the policy.
