Summary of Changes
Added:
All prospective applicants shall be offered VR Orientation, Initial Meeting, and Information and Referral to other agencies
Other State VR Agencies: Ensure Nebraska VR is the correct State VR agency.
Residency: Nebraska VR is prohibited from requiring documentation to verify duration of residency but needs to ensure the applicant is present in the State of Nebraska and available to actively participate in services.
Information and Referral to Other Agencies is required to be completed with local contact information whether an individual applies for VR services or not.
Staff Safety. Staff and community safety are a top priority. If a question of ability to benefit from services stems from safety concerns, immediately discuss with Office Director and refer to the Violet and Disruptive Behavior chapter.
Informed Choice: Added additional clarification to process section.
Once an individual has completed the VR Application the assumption of benefit exists. Ineligibility determinations based on "cannot benefit from services" will only occur after the initial eligibility determination and an exploration of the individual's abilities, capabilities, and capacity to perform in realistic work situations.
Removed Trial Work Experience (TWE) service language.
Moved VR Application form directions to its own process section within this chapter
