Summary of Changes

1) Requires documentation of Benefits Orientation prior to IPE for those with specific benefits (those affected by earned income) that are listed on the Existing Benefits Screen (see policy for list of benefits requiring referral for Benefits Orientation 

2) Benefits Orientation Specialist authorizes all subsequent benefits services

3) Benefits Orientation Specialist completes Benefits Discussion in the 30 days prior to case closure; such discussion is required to close case

4) New report will be available soon so Benefits Orientation Specialists can view authorizations and payment dates for each case assigned to them--helping to track next actions needed.      

 

Forms - New or Revised

1) Benefits Orientation Checklist and Benefits Referral form are combined as one form:  Benefits Checklist/Benefits Referral Form  

 

QE2 Update

Benefits Orientation will be documented before IPE can be approved; Benefits Discussion will be documented within the 30 days prior to closure in order to close the case.

To Do

Send recorded training to all staff when it comes available and post on Sharepoint. 

Team Communication

Discuss at staff meetings; emphasize importance of communication between Benefits Orientation Specialist and VR Specialist in order be aware of needed case actions

Monitoring Requirements

Monitoring to ensure needed benefits services are provided; declination based on informed choice is documented. Monitor activities of Benefits Orientation Specialists and provide information on any upgrades needed to Carla Lasley.
