It is permissible for a student who previously received pre-employment transition services and had their case closed to reenroll in pre-employment transition services or to seek VR Services. Please refer to the "Process" section to determine how the case is to be reopened based on the previous closure.

The process for reopening a previous pre-employment transition services case for a student with a disability (SWD), aged 14-21, enrolled in an educational program earning a recognized credential is as follows:

  1. Student’s case was closed but student remains eligible for pre-employment transition services(Pre-ETS): For example, the student and family indicated they are no longer interested in services or the pre-employment transition services coordinator is unable to maintain contact with the student and family despite sincere efforts to do so. This student was previously closed under either Pre-ets: No Longer Interested in Services or Pre-ets: Not Available for Services. When this student returns at a later date to reinitiate pre-employment transition services:
  • Obtain a new Pre-ETS Consent and Release form and update any new information
  • Use the “Reopen Pre-ETS Eligible Case” button on the Case Home Screen
  • Case must be reopened by an Office Director or Program Director

  1. Student’s case was closed because the student became ineligible for pre-employment transition services: For example, the student dropped out or graduated and was previously closed under Pre-ets: No Longer Eligible for Pre-ets Services. When this student returns at a later date to reinitiate pre-employment transition services, having become an eligible student again:
  • Obtain a new Pre-ETS Consent & Release Form
  • Create a new case in QE2
